Eighth Crash [Action/Voice]

{In today's episode Ginji can be found refilling a metal dish suspended from a tree with seed and peanuts. If you guessed "bird feeder", give yourself ten points! After making sure the feeder's still attached securely to its branch, Ginji will make himself comfortable on the lawn and pull out his journal. He'll sit there for a while, enjoying the fresh air and the milder weather, before starting a new entry.]

Hey everyone. So...what's it like for you back home? Do you come from a large family or a small one? Have you set out on your own or still live with your parents? Got any siblings? Kids?

I'd like to know.

[After the voice post is finished, he'll spend the next few hours watching any animals that might wander over to the feeder and run through a few sketches of different wing shapes.]

Difference in rank and duties? I guess there must be a lot of people in the Knights considering how big the cathedral is. It must get pretty busy, too.

[Meaning a lot of times Tear had no one to hang out or play with, huh? He doesn't say that, though.]

Wow...I never even thought about that. What would it be like if someone grew up in Luceti and then returned as a little kid? [He's mostly asking himself. [hmmm....] ...fonons. For example, they bind the bits and pieces that make up people and animals and other structures together, but they can also be free-floating. Like the particles you'd find in the air. They're sort of everywhere on Auldrant.

Huh. I see. So I guess your family's pretty special, and not just because they're your family.

It may not be the best, but it is honest. It's all right.

Yeah, it would, wouldn't it? [Well. Half a year to him, since years back home are about twice as long, but even 365 days is a long time.]

[His expression remains placid, despite the look he's getting.]

Some days it doesn't seem like it's been all that long, and other days it feels like I've been here for a really long time.

[Well, nonverbal sounds and gestures can actually tell a person a lot, so it might work out!]

So, if you're a teacher, then where do you usually start your students out at? Do you have them study from books, or do you take a more hands-on approach?

At least he has a chance of talking his way out of it, most of the time.

I hope so as well. If it was up to me I'd rather they take me than my friends, but they'll get angry if I let 'em hear that.

Yep! I remember! Although while I was there I didn't remember being here, so coming back here and remembering being there was a liiiiiiiiiittle weird. But not bad weird! I guess that happens sometimes?

...Soooo you're made up of fonons? Does that mean I am, too, or is it only people from Auldrant?

Well, yeah, but only 'cause of the genocide!

Well...not everyone believes that, but it's still kind of a big stereotype, you know? Girls play house, boys play cops...that kind of thing. Not as many people believe that now, but...Well.

I can imagine...! I never saw my grandpa get into any arguments, but he would always talk about having to yell at his patients about stuff.

I'd think people would talk about it if a princess went anywhere! I mean, she's the princess! Kind of a big deal, right?

That was what mostly kept us apart, and with his position he was always occupied. The only time I was granted audience with him in Daath was done with the help of my instructor.

[He may not say it, and for that she's a little grateful. The implications were definitely there.]

[Ginji glances towards the feeder. They must've been pretty hungry, he guesses, to come back while they're still standing there.] You like birds?

They're so small, though, how much of a mess could they possibly make?

[Ha ha, Ginji. Haha ha. (He has no idea.) The pilot'll survey the scene for a moment, satisfied that the feeder isn't going to flip over or move around too much.]

...Come to think of it, you don't suppose Tsuae will try and attack them, do you? Maybe I should've put it up a little higher.

Maybe they would, but there're a lot of people who'd think the very same thing. When you look at it that way, there isn't so much to be angry about.

[Crashing Van's party doesn't help them too much here.]

...Well, I don't know. But if I did, I'd be doing it.

Yeah, I guess it does happen sometimes.

Sort of... Well, it's not just fonons. We've still got blood and skin cells, and everything else most other people have. We've also got fon slots.

But from what I've seen, everyone from Auldrant are the only people who have to worry about it. Most haven't ever heard of fonons before, and they don't seem to be occuring normally here anyway. At least, none of my instruments have picked them up in large enough quantities to be of any real use.

[Ginji's train of thought gets cut off abruptly at this, and he makes a startled noise.] --Genocide?!

What's a fon slot? [ WHAT IS ALL THIS VOCABULARY she's sort of getting the idea Adulrant folks are just special in fonic ways. ]

Mmm, it's definitely not something I've ever heard of!

[ YEP, genocide. She's more used to people...knowing about it, but it's world-specific. ] Ummm, over a century ago, in the time my grandpa was originally from, the Fire Nation sort of got rid of all the air nomads, and all their things. 'Cause the Avatar was an airbender, and they wanted to kill him.
