Hello everyone. For those I haven't gotten the chance to meet yet, I'm Ginji. I wanted to apologize for the trouble I've caused this past week, and to thank you all for looking after my sister and me. We're grateful for your help.

[A thoughtful pause, and what sounds like pages being flipped through.] So I've been wondering, are there any other craftsmen or engineers in Luceti? Pilots? I figure if our worlds are different, then our technologies must be too. There's a lot we could learn from each other.

[Luke is pretty sure that second part would bore him to tears, so he'll just focus on the first part instead.]

You didn't cause any trouble or anything.

[It's never boring, Luke! It's just that sometimes people present the information in a very dull way.]

That's good to hear. [Not entirely convinced this applies to everyone, but he'll give Luke the benefit of a doubt here.]

By the way, those predictions in the journals... do you think they were a shift?

[fabrecation]

Yeah, they definitely were. There's something about this one, though... [It's the predictions... the fact that people were following them so easily. It's like...]

I thought that might be it since everyone was acting strangely. [That's an understatement.] But I wasn't expecting the month to be so short.

[Pause.] You know, they weren't so different from Score readings...

[fabrecation]

[He'll get to that "month being so short" thing in a bit, since that's another thing that bothers him month after month. But right now...]

... That's probably why this one rubbed me the wrong way. We couldn't even fight them, either.

[broji]

You're right. Even though most of the predictions didn't do any lasting damage, it's wrong to force them on people. [He's never been especially dependent on the Score - it's humankind that does all the work to make things and to make things happen, after all.]

[Thoughtfully.] Noelle had hiccups all week long, Mr. Asch kept trying to cut his hair... I even met someone with ducks chasing after him. [He means Naoto.] And I'm sure there were worse cases than those.

I cannot take care of anything beyond simple repairs, but I'm a trained pilot. Would that serve your purpose?

[broji]

Really?! Do you mind if I ask what kind of machine you fly?

[Purpose? What purpose? Ginji just wants to chatter with other people who share his interests. As should be obvious because he sounds more animated than he did a few seconds ago.]

I fly airships. The Red Wings, mostly; we have a few more recent models, but Cid does not part with them easily. I can also fly the Lunar Whale, but that one is slightly more complicated to control.

[Well, he certainly has no problems with chattering. Goodness knows he misses airships.]

[He's reminded for a moment of the Dark Wings, even if they're not a model of airship. Hopefully Noir and the others are faring okay.]

Haha... That sounds familiar. [The comment about Cid reminds him of Grandfather.]

I can't say I've heard of any of those models before, though. Our airship's called the Albiore. We've only built three so far, but some members of the team think we'll be ready for mass production soon.

I suspect every world has its own overly devoted engineers.

I do hope you will reach that point quickly. Flying with a whole fleet, and knowing that a hundred other men can feel the wind around them as you do, is one of the greatest feelings I've known.

[Another prospective recruit for his science club? Don will certainly answer this. Anyway, it will be nice to have some conversation while he works on recovering all the computer files he deleted last week.]

I do a little engineering.

[Ginji sounds interested at least. He's always enjoyed listening to people talk about what they're involved in and sharing his own ideas.] In what area? Back home we had people working on all sorts of different projects.

My own specialty is airships.

Well, I built a submarine - [Said as though this were an accomplishment of no particular merit.] - but what do you mean by an airship?

Flying machines based on records from the Dawn Age. The ones we've been working on are 24 meters long by eight with a passenger capacity of about 20. I could get into specifics if you want.

[Curiosity.] So, what's a "submarine"?

Can you draw a picture? [Visual aids are always good!]

A submarine is kind of like a boat, but it's enclosed and pressurized and can go underwater.

I believe there are a few craftsmen here, yes.

[Hesitate. So much hesitation.]

You may want to speak with Saphir about things of that nature. He's always had an interest in fon machines.

Hello, Nephry. And yes, it's sure beginning to look that way.

[Nephry why.]

Saphir? I don't think we've met before. [But another mechanically-minded guy from Auldrant would probably be a good person to know! After all, they already use the same types of technology and wouldn't have to spend a long time explaining and making comparisons.]

Do you know where I could find him?

Ah...you may know him by the name he chose, instead. Dist. He lives here, in house one.

[Now where has he heard that name before? Thinking, thinking.]

If I'm not mistaken, Hencken and Cathy were originally working for someone named Dist.

[No, that can't be all. Ginji's sure he's heard that name more than once...]

I guess you could say that. Craftsman... engineer... pilot. Those do all seem to be talking about me.

[Goodnaturedly:] Oh that's right. It looks like I forgot to add blacksmith to the list.

[Hum. Not sure how to take that. It sounds like it was meant to be good.]

Well. Yeah. I'm one of those too.

[Just making light conversation. Ginji'd never say anything that was meant to be bad! Probably.]

But I had no idea you were a pilot. So what are the airships on your world like?

[markofthewise]

Well. Pilot is just, you know, something I've done in the past. I'm not a professional or anything. I just kind of had had a hand in their invention, that's all.

[Oh yes, he's boasting.]

But you know, they're big. Just... ships. That stay in the air, by heating up the air. It's pretty simple once you figure out all the details that go into it.
